W810i 3GP Converted Video's

Hi guys n gals,

Just a quick question really i have used a number of tools to convert video's to 3GP for phones, but i have found with the W810i the longer the converted video the more out of sync it gets, i ask for support from the providers of the tool i currently use and we checked every possible problem over the period of a week with no luck.

I put a small South Park clip to my phone about 15 seconds long which played fine, i then tried a larger clip about 2 minutes long and the sounds gets more out of sync as the video plays.

I have contact Sony Ericsson whom advised they would send all the settings needed for sound and video via email so i can make sure the frame rate is correct etc but i have yet to have this email and its been 2 weeks so im going to call again tomorrow.

Thanks i nadvance people.

Oh and i currently used a registered version of IMToo 3gp converter

Re: W810i 3GP Converted Video's
Hi, i've been using IMToo 3gp converter & was having some problems like sound & video sync, bad video quality etc. Then i found this Nokia multimedia converter. It is quite impressive cause u can explicitly select the frame rate, sound quality, start time etc. The generated 3gp video is very smmoth. U can download it from the following link
http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,6566,034-63,00.html
All u need is to register with Nokia Developer Forum (for free) to get a serial key, which u'll need during installation.

Note: Somtimes the sound & video sync occurs cause of the compression technique used to generate the source AVI file.

Re: W810i 3GP Converted Video's
Agent 47, I know you are asking for 3gp info, but why don't you use mp4?
I've converted a full movie to mp4 using IMToo and it plays on my w810i very very nicely. Settings I used are:
Video Size - 176x144
Bit Rate - 200
Frame Rate - 12-15

Audio
64bits
44.1KHz
Stereo
Full lenght movie was about 250megs, so it is further possible to decrease the size by slightly decreasing the quality of video. There might be some better settings, but these worked fine to me.

Re: W810i 3GP Converted Video's
The connection timeout problem occurs some time cause of low internet speed. Try to download with all other Internet explorer windows closed. Good Luck!

Re: W810i 3GP Converted Video's
Two major issues in this conversation:
1) usually the forum Nokia site does not allow download from external links - try to find the download page by browsing the site's Tools section;
2) When the source video is in AVI format using some kind of variable bitrate audio compression it tends ALWAYS get out of sync when converting to antoher format/framerate. This is most noticeable when converting some DivX / XviD files to mpeg or mastering them to the DVD. There are a number of techniques described on a number of sites I wil not advertise here :-) -- try Google. Hint - use Goldwave audio editor to extract VBR audio track from AVI, convert to wav and remux afterwards with Virtual Dub

Re: W810i 3GP Converted Video's
Hi
There is a tool called SUPER © "Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer"
which is free and very good with preinstalled settings for Sony Ericsson phones.
You can download it here:
http://www.erightsoft.com/SV1help.html

Here are some data to encode your video for best performance on w550i, w800, w810 and k750:

Format: MPEG4
V. Codec: MP4
A. Codec: AAC
Res.: 176x144
Max V. kbps: 96
Max v. Fps: 12.5/15
Stereo/Mono : Mono
A. Sample Rate: 12 000
Max A. Kbps:64
H(Horizontal) V(vertical): V

And here is for W900:

Format:MPEG4
V. Codec: MPEG4
A. Codec: HE-AAC
Res.: 320x240
Max V. kbps: 336
Max v. Fps: 25
Stereo/Mono : Stereo
A. Sample Rate: 44 100
Max A. Kbps:64
H(Horizontal) V(vertical): H

Cheers

Thanks for posting these settings for optimum video playback on the w810i.... still looking for an answer as to why the w810i (and other SE handsets with larger than 144x176 pixel displays) are only able to play videos of 144x176pixels, when the display is 220x176... It's quite frustrating wanting to use the hardware to it's maximum potential, but being limited by.... what is causing this anyway? If it's firmware, - I know there's a huge wishlist already, this would be a great and welcome update...

Cheers,
Andrew.

Hi
Not sure but I think it is because the video is showed vertically by standard. You can always choose to show the video in "landscape" mode.
