The final version of the Sony Ericsson J2ME SDK, version 2.1.5, has been released and can be downloaded from the Java Docs & Tools section. One of the new features is support for the Sony Ericsson V800. The V800 supports the Vodafone Specific Class Library (VSCL), a set of propritary API's from Vodafone. The new SDK supports compiling and building MIDlets using VSCL. Snapshot functionality has also been added to all the emulators in the SDK; simply press F12 or use the menu to take a snapshot of the emulator display. The snapshot will automatically and conveniently be saved as a .png image. And while talking about emulators, the emulators for the Z1010, K700, K500/K508, Z500, S700, F500 and V800 phones now support true fonts and softkey emulation. This means that the fonts used in the emulator display will be the same that are actually used on the real phones and that the emulators' softkeys will work like the real thing. Please note that so far only western language font emulation is implemented. A new, very convenient, feature of the Sony Ericsson KToolbar is that it can create a project, including necessary directories, by just pointing it to an existing JAD or JAR file. For more detailed information, refer to the Release notes which are included in the SDK.
Note how the font is changed between the old emulator to the left and the new emulator to the right.
