XPERIA™ Panels – Testing and Certification Overview for submissions to PlayNow™ arena

This page explains the exact procedure to follow when submitting XPERIA™ panels for sale on PlayNow™ arena and Fun & Downloads.

There is a specific Panels tab in the PlayNow™ arena store, so that XPERIA™ users can easily locate and buy Panels. When you upload your Panel, you will be able to categorize it as a Panel and also sub-categorize it as which type of Panel

 

Java ME and Project Capuchin Panels


1. Developer uses the Java Panelizer tool to create the cab file
2. Developer submits cab (includes jar/jad) at submit.sonyericsson.com – Jar/Jad may be signed or unsigned.
3. Sony Ericsson reviews and tests the application. If the application is accepted:

  • If unsigned, continue to step 4
  • If signed, continue to step 8

4. Developer takes the application thru the Java Verified process:

  • Developer submits application at the Java Verified portal
  • Developer selects a test house (four test houses today; Babel, NSTL, RelQ and Sogeti)
  • The test house tests the application and if it passes, the application is signed

5. Testing provider provides the Java Verified Signed Application to developer.
6. Developer packages the content as a cab file Using the Java Panelizer tool.
7. Developer uploads the cab file at submit.sonyericsson.com
8. Application is deployed in the Panel tab for Windows Mobile in PlayNow™ Arena Store

 

Flash Panel


1. Developer uses the Flash Panelizer tool to create the cab from the swf content
2. Developer submits cab (includes swf content) at submit.sonyericsson.com
3. Sony Ericsson reviews and tests the application.
4. If the application is accepted it will be deployed in the Panel tab for Windows Mobile.

 

Windows Mobile Native (cab) Panel

This procedure applies to the following types of Panel:

  • Native Panel developed using the Sony Ericsson Beta SDK for Windows Mobile® 6.5
  • Native Panel including OpenGL® ES content developed Sony Ericsson Beta SDK for Windows Mobile® 6.5
  • HTML Panel developed using the Sony Ericsson Beta SDK for Windows Mobile® 6.5 SDK
  • Panels created from existing applications (EXE or NET) using the Panelizer function in Visual Studio.

1. Developer submits cab (native) – signed or unsigned at submit.sonyericsson.com
2. Sony Ericsson reviews and tests the application. If the application is accepted:

  • If unsigned, continue to step 4
  • If signed, continue to step 6

3. Developer submits the native application (cab) for Microsoft Application Certification Program or XPERIA™ certification.
4. Developer gets the app signed (either Microsoft Application Certification Program or XPERIA™ certification)
5. Developer uploads the cab file at submit.sonyericsson.com
6. Application is deployed in the Panel tab for Windows Mobile in PlayNow™ Arena Store
