Z558
Tri-band clamshell with touch screen for Chinese character input
 
The Sony Ericsson Z558 is a tri-band GPRS, clamshell phone featuring a touch screen for Chinese character input as well as Thai and English text recognition and one-touch SMS access. This is the first non-Symbian OS based phone in the Sony Ericsson range to offer a touch screen and stylus. Touch screen input can be handled in Java ME applications, check out the MIDP 2.0 specifications in the Sony Ericsson SDK for the Java ME Platform.
 
The Z558 has a 1.3 Megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and supports push e-mail, Internet browsing, a media player and Mobile Java 3D gaming. The phone also features a 262k color TFT, 220x176 pixel main display and a 128x36 pixel STN sub-display.
 
The Z558 will be available during Q4 2006.
