The Sony Ericsson W580 Walkman phone supports quad-band EDGE networks and is a slim slider with built-in sports applications and shake control to randomly play music tracks.

 

The Walkman player 2.0 simplifies music track, playlist and genre navigation with a more intuitive UI, and includes TrackID powered by Gracenote Mobile MusicID. TrackID records a few seconds of a track from the radio or the phone's microphone, sends the track to the Gracenote music database for identification and returns the information to the phone. The W580 is supplied with Disc2Phone software for easy transfer of legacy CDs.

 

At only 14mm thin, the W580 packs in an impressive range of features including a 2 Megapixel camera, 320x240 pixel 262K color display, Memory Stick Micro (M2) removable storage (up to 1G available), full HTML browser, RSS feed support and 3D gaming. The pedometer and accompanying sports applications count steps and calories, and monitor speed and distance.

 

The W580 supports Sony Ericsson's Java Platform 7 (JP-7) with a range of JSRs, including Advanced Multimedia Supplements (JSR 234) for enhanced camera and image handling.
