Feature-rich, 3G smartphone
The Sony Ericsson P1 is the fifth-generation P-series smartphone, pushing forward the best attributes of its predecessors yet evolving with major differences including design, RAM size and battery performance. It is based on Symbian OS v9.1 and UIQ 3.0, an open platform offering great potential for business, productivity and multimedia applications for developers, operators and end-users.
This UIQ 3-based UMTS smartphone features a 3.2 Megapixel camera, a 2.6 inch QVGA touch screen with a transreflective display and dual-function keyboard. Multimedia and business connectivity are boosted by integrated WLAN, VoIP enabled, secure push email with ActiveSync and BlackBerry Connect (BBC) 4.0 support, Opera 8 web browser with horizontal wide-screen browsing, RSS feed support and picture blogging.
Developers are able to program in both C++ and Java ME (CLDC 1.1 and CDC 1.0), can use the WLAN API to create applications using WiFi and take advantage of hardware accelerated 3D graphics supported by both the OpenGL ES API and JSR 184. RAM size is double when compared to the P1's predecessor, the P990, and memory capacity is significantly increased which is also supported by extendable memory with the ultra-small Memory Stick Micro (M2 ).
| The P1 smartphone is available in the Virtual Lab, Sony Ericsson Developer World's members-only on-line service for remote testing on pre-commerical Sony Ericsson phones. More information>> |
 |
The P1i will be available in selected markets from Q3 2007. The P1c is a GSM variant without WLAN specifically for the Chinese market where 3G services are not established.
