[Back]

The Swedish Game Awards 2005 is a game development competition organized by the student group Excitera at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. It's Sweden's biggest game development competition, promoting innovative thinking and creative game ideas among academics.

In addition to sponsoring the event and donating phones for the winners in the mobile category, Sony Ericsson Developer World also awarded a cash prize for the best mobile Java 3D game.

The jury of industry representatives finished their deliberations and the award ceremony was held on May 12 at the KTH campus in Stockholm.

Mikael Nerde, Senior Managar and Head of Sony Ericsson's Developer Program, was on hand to award the mobile category prizes to the winning teams.

Winner: 3D Cube

3D Cube was developed by Bjorn Ingeson, Henrik Ygge, Patrik Bruce and Ingmar Baeckstrom and the jury considered it to be:

"an IQ-demanding and ingenious game despite its simple model, and just like Rubic's Cube it is very difficult to master. This Java 3D game shows how 3D can be used in more situations than flight simulations and first-person-shooter games."
