Heads-up: Sony Ericsson's president keynote at MIDEM 2007

Nearly 10,000 music professionals will meet in Cannes, France from January 20-25, 2007 to attend one of the major events in the music industry calendar: MIDEM 2007. Miles Flint, President of Sony Ericsson, will be joining them to present his keynote session during the MidemNet Forum conference on January 20, 2007.

About MIDEM 2007
Each January, international music professionals from the recording, publishing, live, digital and mobile sectors meet at MIDEM to do deals, network, learn and check-out hot new talent.

The two-day MidemNet Forum takes place just before MIDEM on January 20-21, 2007. This international conference program covers the opportunities offered by the digital and mobile industries.

The theme for MidemNet Forum 2007 is 'Power to the Consumer'. Faced with blogs, social networking platforms and user-generated content, the music industry now has the ability to partner with consumers in order to produce and distribute music. More information about MidemNet Forum>> 

Keynote by Miles Flint, President of Sony Ericsson
In his keynote session during MidemNet Forum on January 20, 2007, Miles Flint will be focusing on Sony Ericsson's music-related applications and services which complement the Sony Ericsson family of Walkman phones. This will be exemplified by Sony Ericsson's partnerships with key music industry players to bring innovative music initiatives to the mobile phone consumer.

Such partnerships announced during 2006 include:

  • M-BUZZ
    M-BUZZ is a partnership between Sony Ericsson and Sony ATV, Sony's music publishing company, and is a promotional space for breaking new, unsigned and developing artists through Sony Ericsson mobile phones. M-BUZZ showcases selected previously unreleased tracks, videos, interviews, tour dates, artwork, ringtones and artist information using the PlayNow over-the-air (OTA) download service on Sony Ericsson mobile phones.     Partnering with Gracenote Mobile MusicID, the TrackID music recognition functionality, found on the W850 and W710 Walkman phones, records a few seconds of a track from the radio or microphone, sends the track to the comprehensive Gracenote music database for identification and returns the information to the phone.
