NetBeans Software Team free companion event

San Francisco, USA

On May 15, 2006 the day before JavaOne 2006, the NetBeans Software Team will host a free companion event at The Argent Hotel near the Moscone Center in San Francisco. James Gosling, the father of Java, and other Java luminaries will discuss NetBeans and the future of Java developer tools.

Joining them at one of the technical sessions is Thomas Bailey, Sony Ericsson's Tools Product Manager. He will participate in the session "NetBeans Mobility Pack, Living up to Developers expectations". For this presentation and live demonstration of on-device debugging, Thomas is joined by Petr Suchomel and Matt Volpi from Sun Microsystems.

Here's a summary of what Thomas, Petr and Matt will be discussing:

  • Stripping away the marketing hype, this presentation demonstrates how to create mobile applications with the NetBeans IDE Mobility Pack, with a focus on integration between the NetBeans IDE and the Sony Ericsson SDK for Java Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME).
  • It also includes an in-depth look into Java ME platform-based web services and on-device debugging, with a demonstration of the interaction between the NetBeans IDE and a Sony Ericsson device during a live debugging session. The presentation also shows the use of NetBeans IDE Mobility Pack for getting web services on legacy devices, using a middleware solution.
