New Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 Developers' Guidelines

The new Sony Ericsson Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 Developers' Guidelines give an overview of how Macromedia Flash Lite is implemented in a range of Sony Ericsson mobile phones. This document outlines some of the issues faced when designing Flash Lite content for mobile phones and lists the Flash features supported by each phone in grid. Phones supported in this document include the W200, W810 and W850 Walkman phones and the K610im i-mode phone.

This document is divided into two sections:

1. Overview
Introducing Macromedia Flash Lite, this section explains the two main implementations of Flash Lite on Sony Ericsson phones: the "stand alone" and "browser" models.

Designing Flash for mobile phones creates several challenges, and the issues of screen size, navigation, menus, image format and size, fonts, network access and scaling are all discussed.

2. Specifications
The second section outlines which Flash specifications and features are supported by which Sony Ericsson mobile phone, and this information is presented in a grid for ease of reference.

Getting started tutorial
Developers can learn more with Sony Ericsson's "Getting Started with Macromedia Flash Lite" tutorial. This tutorial introduces Flash Lite and walks developers through creating a small magazine application called MyWorld to show how web-style information can be viewed on a mobile phone without using the WAP style list of text and blue links.
