Sony Ericsson has a multi-platform strategy to be able to bring a wide range of user propositions to the global market, and products are positioned by end-user benefits rather than by operating systems.
The XPERIA X1 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, an open platform and applications designed for X1 will run on other Windows Mobile 6 devices with the same screen resolution and hardware features. The .NET Compact Framework in Windows Mobile 6 helps developers manage screen resolution differences and automatically scales all controls to account for design-time resolution and runtime resolution differences. The XPERIA X1 has a WVGA, 800x480 pixel screen which is a standard screen resolution in Windows Mobile 6.
Sony Ericsson Developer World now has a new Docs & Tools section for Windows Mobile providing links to Microsoft's developer community, Visual Studio 2005, Windows Mobile developer resource kit and the Windows Mobile SDK.
