New SVG Developers' Guidelines

[Back]

The new SVG Developers' Guidelines give content developers, content providers and operators an overview of how Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) images and animations can be created for use in Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

Sony Ericsson phones support the standard version for mobile phones, SVG Tiny version 1.1 (SVGT 1.1).

The SVG Developers' Guidelines list supported SVGT features for different Sony Ericsson phone models and also give tips and tricks on how to use different graphical software tools to create optimal SVGT content.

SVGT in themes and wallpapers
In many Sony Ericsson mobile phones, for example the K750, W800, W810 and K610, SVGT content can be used in wallpaper images and as part of downloadable themes.

SVGT supporting web content
SVG is experiencing a growing popularity for use in web applications. SVG is based on XML, and is therefore particularly good for data-driven graphics such as maps, weather services, stock quotes, and presentation of statistical data. SVG image and animation files are often smaller than corresponding files in other graphical file formats, therefore requiring less processor power, which make them particularly useful for mobile phones with limited processor capacity and memory.

Sony Ericsson phones such as the W550, W900, W810 and K610 support SVGT in web content, allowing viewing of downloaded and locally stored SVG files.
