Moving beyond just music tracks, Sony Ericsson Developer World stimulates other music-related application ideas and has set up a dedicated music web resource at www.SonyEricsson.com/developer/music.

The W700 Walkman offers developers a range of JSRs to create music-related applications and advanced 3D games:

Implemented in a range of phones to permit Personal Information Management (PIM) data access and file system access, for example accessing music files, images or phone book
  • JSR 82 Java APIs for Bluetooth:
Enables PC connectivity from mobile Java applications, files or data transfers via Bluetooth to and from other devices, and wireless multi-player gaming

Now implemented in the W700 and the other Walkman phones including the W300, W600, W550, W900, W810 and W950, as well as in the P990 smartphone and the M600 messaging device to take advantage of a lightweight XML parser to create powerful MIDlets that are comparable to Java SE counterparts
  • JSR 184 Mobile 3D Graphics API for Java ME:
Implemented in a broad portfolio of 33 Sony Ericsson mobile phones to encourage mobile three-dimensional gaming and other non-gaming related applications such as 3D GPS mapping, avatars, user interfaces adding depth (3D instead of SVG), and 3D virtual walk-throughs of various scenes
