Sony Ericsson Java Platform

Java™ is an integrated part of Sony Ericsson’s thinking. Sony Ericsson introduced a multi-tasking VM in 2006 and the world’s first fully MSA compliant phone in 2008. The Sony Ericsson Java Platform has comprehensive JSR support including Java 3D and provides access to hardware features such as the built-in accelerometer. Sony Ericsson is a member of the Java ME Executive Committee and supports the JavaVerified program and JATAF (Java Application Terminal Alignment Framework) which addresses fragmentation of Java ME implementations.

Development tools include the Sony Ericsson SDK for the Java ME Platform with full 3D emulation and on-device debugging, as well as developers' guidelines and plug-ins. Download>>

XPERIA™ panels are always one click away, and with simple touch selection, applications are placed at the center of the user experience. Flash Lite

Flash Lite is a technology from Adobe which enables Flash designers to produce content for mobile devices. It is widely supported by Sony Ericsson phones. Sony Ericsson UI Components are light, robust and customizable and can be used to create complex and appealing Flash Lite applications.

Project Capuchin

Sony Ericsson's Project Capuchin is the base for great looking applications where the UI presentation is designed in Flash Lite™ while the data logic is provided by Java code. Data transmission is enabled both ways, from Java™ ME to Flash Lite and from Flash Lite to Java ME.

Project Capuchin enables faster UI development and easier collaboration between graphical designers and code developers.

Once all interfaces between the presentation and service layers have been defined, UI designers can develop and test the presentation layer in the Flash environment independent of the Java development and testing of the service layer.
