  • Username: loki51
  • Name: Julien Heanley
  • Country of residence: UK
  • Professional background: I started in the mobile gaming industry one week after graduation in 2006, working for a company which mainly specializes in console games, the mobile department had only just got its first game signed by a publisher. Since then I have been a key programmer for World Snooker Championship 2007 and 2008 and World Championship Pool 2007. Within 2 years I was made head of mobile development, which including me has a full time staff count of one at the moment. Look out for WCP2009, I'm particularly proud of this one.
  • My area of interest: I still have interests in console development, but with mobile technology moving at such a fast pace I believe there are going to be a lot of gaps left in the market, ready to be filled by a few great mobile game ideas. My main java interests are in the 3d sector. Its very satisfying to watch your hard work spin and animate in front of your very eyes, and very frustrating to watch it completely fold when you then go from emulator to device. I have also been part and partial to a few AI adjustments and major collision restructuring, what’s a game of pool if you cant get the pack to break apart.
  • Personal description: I'm still an avid gamer, always will be, but I'm also a married man, no more World Of Warcraft for me ;). My wife and I tend to prefer socializing in the comfort of our own home, but occasionally I can be seen making a fool of myself in Manchester.
  • Why did you accept to be part of the fellow expert team? I have had the benefit of working on games 9–5.30 (usually 6.30 if I'm honest) Mon–Fri. This has made it mush easier for me to get to grips with all the pitfalls and device variances as well as memory and performance barriers. A lot of people are only able to work on java in their spare time and so do not have the chance to learn as quickly or have access to the sort of device information that I do. I just hope that some of my java experience and resources will be useful to someone.
  • Username: NicklasE
  • Name: Nicklas Ekstrand
  • Country of residence: Sweden
  • Professional background:
I've been working at Sony Ericsson since 2006. My work has been focussed on the CLDC Java VM for the phones with the Java platform.
  • My area of interest:
Core Java stuff such as Java VM, low level integration and optimization. But I'm also interested in new technlogies in Java and how to bring Java to the next level for mobile handsets.
  • Personal description:
You will find all the details on my family's homepage>>

In my spare time I do some MIDlet programming and I currently have three projects that I hope to finalize some day: 1) Location tracker that records GPS position, base station info etc. 2) Picture blog that enables me to send pictures directly to my homepage. 3) Phone backup over-the-air.
  • Why did you accept to be part of the fellow expert team?
I'm really happy every time I'm able to help someone in the forum. Many developers seems to get stuck on the most trivial things, and this is not good for Java and it is not good for Sony Ericsson. Java is THE programming language for mobile handsets today and if I can contribute to get more people involved and enjoying the SonyEricsson Java solution, we will all be happy :-)
  • Username: stenlik
  • Name: Petr Mazanec

  • Why did you accept to be part of the fellow expert team? I enjoy participating in developer discussion boards as every question I answer not only helps others, but also strengthens my knowledge and keep me in touch with community.
  • Professional background: I'm working on SIP based application trials used by mobile network operators mainly from Arabic and East Asia regions. My work is focused on design and implementation of network parts and underlying engines. Main projects I worked on were chat and presence applications, push-to-talk, drawing real time sharing, combining CS call and video streaming, implementing OMA Presence, mobile p2p networking.
  • Username: Traud
  • Name: Alexander Traud
  • Country of residence: Germany
  • Professional background: Computer Science Student
  • My area of interest: Java, Bluetooth™ and Data Synchronisation
  • Personal description:
As student at the University of Ulm I try to balance practical and theoretic experience. Learning one programming language in depth helps me to understand general problems more easily as I add yet another view at the problem.
  • Why did you accept to be part of the fellow expert team?
Communities like the Sony Ericsson Developer World are very good resources even for experienced programmers to reach the tip of the iceberg. Giving something back to such a great resource, understanding difficult issues and learning how to explain those: Definitely a win-win situation!
