Theme V4.1 SWF Menu Support (W810 Series)

Hi,

Can anyone tell me is it possible to create .swf menu's on the W810 series (and probably other themes 4.1 phones).. I'm talking about the ones seen in themes such as the Equalizer one that is supplied as standard; where the main menu itself is completely customisable through the use of the:

  <Desktop_style Type="File" Source="equalizer.swf"/>

line in the XML file for the theme.

The thing is that this .SWF file is not present in the theme (even when extracting the whole .tar) and doesn't seem to be present on the handset. This makes it impossible to study what's going on there and to attempt to write my own.

Is there source for that .SWF animation available in flash format? Guidelines for using it? Or just a copy of the equaliser.swf would be a good start.

Thanks,
Sam

Hi,

Only embedded swf can be referenced in the theme xml - still not supported. I dont believe you can access this from user land.

As themes creator doesn't support flash menus currently, but there is a way to
include them in "home grown" themes is there a list of what swf files are
embedded ?
I only know of orbit, emerge and equaliser on the 810i - does it have others ??

Re: Theme V4.1 SWF Menu Support (W810 Series)
It seems SE made SWF file's sue very limited. For example I heard there were support for flash lite files even in the early versions of k750, but they dropped it.
In early versions of W900 it was possible to set an SWF file as screensaver and as wallpaper as well, but it's removed as well. I think the main reason is using SWF files it's possible to completely change the main menu look. With a badly written menu flash file the phone's functionality can be reduced, and also it would be impossible to switch back (a simple example: the flash menu wont include the link to the setup menu). So I guess until they find a solution for it, they will restrict the usage. (btw, if SE is reading this message: if this is really the case, what about adding an option to the powerbutton's menu, like "revert theme", or to add a *# code like the one for resetting the language to english)
(I'm not 100% sure in the above info, I just collected it from several forums)

hmmm.. it's a very (VERY) good view point, of course it's a risk to set-up a swf theme, thnx SE !! ;)..
Another option.. a time-out to revert, like windows(r) does when you change some display settings.

Re: Theme V4.1 SWF Menu Support (W810 Series)
I think there's a solution to this....

Any theme file(.thm) that you download doesn't come with .swf flash file. That's absolutely true. You need to put the .swf menu file into the phone memory through flashing (a process where u can alter the phone system files and add new files to it). I did the same using SETool lite edition as it supports almost all the latest phones and my flash menu works great.

Here's how i did it.
I used SETool2 lite version 1.10 instead of Phone XS. It supports most of the new phones available. Esp. SE W810i with EROM: RED CID 50.

You can find flash menus and themes in the same forum.
