Re: How to connect to internet through a pc
I think that you can not connect to internet via bluetooth( bluetooth is designed type of communication between two devices in range which have it and to exchange data between those devices) , only connection that is possible is via cable from laptop to mobile phone, and to configure this type of connection you need to ask the settings from your mobile operator, at costumer service to send you settings via mail, but I think that is not useful, because the cost of that type connection is bigger then other types . hope that i helped

Re: How to connect to internet through a pc
ivarbug,
I had several problems to set up my K790a, but finally it works
Try this.

Create a new PS data account in:
Settings->Connectivity->Data Communication->Data Acounts
APN: (blank)
Username: (blank)
Password: (blank)
All the options to default value.

Then create a new Internet Profile in:
Settings->Connectivity->Internet Settings->Settings for Java->New Profile
Name: (any)
Connect Using: Select the Data account that you created above.

After create the profile edit it and make sure that "Use Proxy" is set to "No"

After that you must be able to connect to internet only with Java Apps (Mini Opera, MSN Messenger, etc). If you try to connect to internet with the default wap browser you will connect through GPRS.

Important points:
a) Check that File->Serial Networking is enable in the SE Device Explorer.
b) The internet profile must be set for Java Apps.
c) This ONLY works for Java apps. Try with Mini Opera....
d) The Java App MUST be initiated from the SE Device Explorer.
e) This works in a standard Internet connection (ASDL/Cable in home). I'm not sure if works in a corporate LAN (Proxys, Restricted Internet Access, etc).
f) If it works for you don't forget my ten points ;)

Good luck....

Re: How to connect to internet through a pc
ivarbug,

These are the programs that run smooth in my K790a:
* Windows Live Messenger. v1.000.1020.en
* Opera Mini v3.0.6306.
* Google Maps v1.4.1
* Several shareware programs for www.getjar.com

The only program that I tested and didn't work is:
* Gmail for mobile v1.0.0b

This is the log from SE Connection Proxy: (your log could help)

That your ISP is blocking your ports shouldn't be a problem, but probably, the default Windows XP SP2 Firewall is blocking your SE Connection proxy (default ports 6080-6082 and some others). Can you debug java apps? can you connect correctly through SE Device Explorer? can you download apps through SE Device explorer? are you installing the Opera Mini through SE Device Explorer? are you starting the Opera Mini from the PC through SE Device Explorer?

The bluetooth apps that you said didn't help, becuse those apps are not java apps and have nothing to do with this.

BTW, in the article that you posted, it says that your Internet profile must have the "Use proxy" option to "yes". When I tried this, several weeks ago, that didn't work for me, and worked only with the option set to "no". So, I guess you should try with both options.

Re: How to connect to internet through a pc
I cant get this to work on the W800i, everything else works until Opera 3.1 does it 4 set-up checks and then reports "Failed to connect to the Internet"

Have tried various guides as well as yours, including the proxy settings

Any ideas?

Re: How to connect to internet through a pc
Everything works... exept the part where the W800i connects to the NET via my PC.

Here are the logs from when Opera 3.1(started from SEDE) goes through its initial set-up checks 4/4 then:
"Failed to connect to the Internet"

Looks to me like the phone is being refused/hung connection when trying to connect to PC, funny cos all the other services check out and ....
Its possible to set-up pc-->> w800i-.>>internet
