Since the newly announce Satio (previously idou) is based on a Symbian Foundation OS, as a themes developer I wanted to know what level of themes support would Sony Ericsson Provide.
Since the phone is a modified version of the symbian s60, there are no current theme creator application to develop themes for that model. I faced a lot of problems with X1 as well. There were no windows mobile theme creators available in the market to support WQVGA Landscape and portrait themes for X1.
Would a themes creator be release before launch to include Satio? Or are we suppose to use the default S60 Carbide Application from Forum Nokia Currently Being Moderated
Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
Hi,
We are currently evaluating how we can include support for creation of themes for Satio (S60 5th edition) in Sonyericsson Themes Creator. More information will be published soon.

Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
Hi,
Is there any update on this. Since the new v4.08 still does not support satio, and the phones expected release date is a month or two away. Currently Being Moderated
Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
I just bought Satio 2 days back. And have tried carbide to theme for the phone. No use since icons get messed up (se uses different icons) and when installing theme shows as Nokia compatible theme, have to click continue anyways.
Is there any update as to when we can expect Satio to be integrated in the theme creator? Currently Being Moderated
Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
Hi There should be a new version of the Themes Creator out within 6-8 weeks.

Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
We have used the standard Nokia tool UI Design tool for the production of themes for the SE Satio. This works you just need the Symbian certificate otherwise the file will cause a message that might confuse the end consumer.
A themes creator tool from SE though might make it easier as the Nokia tool is not very user friendly. Currently Being Moderated
Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
Yes SE should integrate Satio in the next Theme Creator since doing it with carbide is way too complicated! Currently Being Moderated
Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
It would be very helpfull to give us the possibility to change homescreen icons bars transparency, and set a wallpaper for the different homescreens(bookmarks, speed dials, shortcuts) instead of black Currently Being Moderated

Thanks! I've made sure the Product Manager for the Themes Creator sees your suggestions. We'll see what he can do.

Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
Hello
Thanks for the feedback
What we are currently trying to accomplish with our tool is to simplify the Carbide tool but at the same time don’t make it "too simple / locked down" We are basically trying to find the balance
Are you saying that you would like the ability to change the home screen background / wallpaper and the backgrounds to the home screen icons independently from each other?
Or would it be enough with matching colors? Ex: If you decide to put a blue homescreen background (or an image that is mostly blue) we could enable the tool to match that color for the "homescreen icons" background

Re: Themes Development for Sony Ericsson Satio
What I mean is that in the principal homescreen(middle one) the icons have a sort of black frame with a very little transparency, because of those 2 bars a good portion of the wallpapers are hidden. The ability to adjust transparency of those 2 bars will allow us to see more of the wallpaper.Ex: The music widget frame has a better transparency Second point: The other homescreens could have a different wallpaper or like you said a single color(or gradient). Third: The possibility to buid a theme wich allow to use another wallpaper than the one of the theme without having the 3-4 mm on the higher part of the homescreen page cut down and replaced by the theme wallpaper. This will allow us to finally use the ''MyLook'' application with all the fun it was intended to give.
